Village ("we," "us," or "our") helps North Carolina families manage school calendars and related information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, applications, and related services (the "Service").
Account and profile. When you use Village, we may collect your name, email address, session identifiers, and authentication details from sign-in providers (such as Google or Apple).
Children and family data. You may provide information about your children, including names, schools, grades, and related preferences. This data is supplied by you as the parent or guardian.
Calendar and connections. If you connect Google Calendar or similar services, we store connection metadata and encrypted OAuth tokens so we can read and write calendar events on your behalf, as you authorize.
Communications. If you enable email digests or text alerts, we process contact information and message content needed to deliver those notifications.
Usage and technical data. We collect standard log and device information (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use Gmail or calendar data to serve third-party advertising.
Village's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We access Google data only to provide features you enable (such as writing school events to your calendar) and do not use that data for unrelated purposes.
Third-party services you connect are governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review those policies before connecting an account.
We may share information with:
We retain information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you disconnect a calendar or delete your account, we delete or anonymize associated data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or backup purposes.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption for sensitive tokens and access controls on our infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Village is designed for use by parents and guardians, not by children directly. Information about children is provided by the adult account holder. If you believe we have collected information from a child without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
You may:
Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under applicable law. We will honor valid requests in accordance with those laws.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by other reasonable means. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
