Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Village ("Village," "we," "us," or "our"), including our website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account, connecting a calendar, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Village is intended for parents and legal guardians managing school-related schedules for their children. You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You represent that information you provide about yourself and your children is accurate and that you have the authority to share that information with us.

Village helps families organize school calendars, reminders, and related information. Features may include calendar synchronization, digest emails, text notifications, and school or district data. Some features are in preview or may change over time. We may add, modify, or discontinue features at any time.

Village is an independent tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any school district, school, or government agency. Calendar data and notifications are provided for convenience and may not be complete, current, or authoritative. Always confirm important dates with your school or district.

You may use Village with or without signing in, depending on the features you choose. If you connect third-party accounts (such as Google Calendar), you authorize us to access and use those services on your behalf as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your devices and accounts and for all activity under your Village account.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law;
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' data;
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the Service except as permitted by law;
• Upload malicious code or interfere with the Service's operation;
• Misrepresent your identity or your relationship to a child or school.

You retain ownership of information you submit (such as children's names, schools, and grades). You grant Village a limited license to use that information solely to operate, improve, and provide the Service — including generating calendar events, notifications, and digests you request.

The Service integrates with third-party platforms (including Google). Your use of those services is subject to their terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, outages, or changes that affect Village.

Village may offer free and paid plans. If we introduce fees, we will disclose pricing before you are charged. Unless otherwise stated, fees are non-refundable except where required by law.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT SCHOOL OR DISTRICT INFORMATION WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VILLAGE AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

You may stop using Village at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law) will survive.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice through the Service or by other reasonable means. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Durham County, North Carolina, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
